CMIC’s 2008 Rates Unchanged for Fifth Consecutive Year; Member Premium Credits Increased

GLASTONBURY, CT – September 12, 2007 – Connecticut Medical Insurance Company (CMIC), one of the largest medical malpractice insurance companies in Connecticut, announced today that the overall rate indication for Connecticut is unchanged for the upcoming 2008 policy year. The announcement follows a detailed rate review performed by the Company’s independent consulting actuary, Towers Perrin.

CMIC will increase member credits to eligible policyholders who have been insured with the Company for at least five consecutive years. The loss experience credits will range from 10% to 30%. The current credit range for the 2007 policy year is 7.5% to 25%.

CMIC CEO Denise Funk commented, “We are pleased that the actuarial rate indication remains unchanged. Because of the continued stability, CMIC is sharing the positive results with our members through larger credits.”
